How to control cookies

Altering your cookie settings is a relatively simple task however the process does differ between browsers. Here's how to access your cookie settings in the most popular browsers.

Web browsers

+ Google Chrome

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click ‘More’ (3 vertical dots icon), and then ‘Settings’.
  3. At the bottom, click ‘Advanced’.
  4. Under “Privacy and security,” click ‘Content settings’.
  5. Click ‘Cookies’ and then ‘See all cookies and site data’ and then ‘Remove all’.
  6. Confirm by clicking ‘Clear all’.
  7. Then,
    • switch off ‘Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended)’, so now it says ‘Blocked’
    • switch on ‘Block third-party cookies’.

+ Safari

  1. Go to the Safari Menu, click 'About', to determine which version of Safari you are using.
  2. From the Safari Menu, click on 'Preferences'.
  3. Once in the Safari preference window, click 'Privacy'.
  4. Set your preferences for accepting cookies next to 'Block Cookies'.
  5. Select 'Parties and Advertisers' - 'Always' or 'Never'.
  6. If there are any website data/cookies being stored, click 'Details'.
  7. If you wish to remove the data, highlight the information and click 'Remove'.
  8. If you wish to remove the data from all the sites, simply click 'Remove All'.
  9. Now you are finished, click 'Done' to return to the preference window.

+ Mozilla Firefox

  1. Go to 'tools' in the menu link (hamburger icon)
  2. click on 'options'
  3. click on 'privacy & security'
  4. From Content Blocking select ‘Strict’.

Mobile operating systems

+ [ IOS, Safari ]

  1. From the homescreen, choose Settings. Select Safari. Select Block All Cookies from ‘privacy and security’ section.
  2. To clear your Cookies, within Settings,
  3. Scroll down to ‘Clear History and Website Data’, click
  4. and select ‘Clear History and Data’.

+ [ Android, Chrome app ]

  1. Open the Chrome app.
  2. At the top right, click on the ‘three vertical dots’ icon.
  3. Settings, click on ‘Cookies’
  4. Turn Cookies off.
  5. To clear your Cookies,
    • Click on the ‘three vertical dots’ icon
    • Click on Privacy and then ‘Clear browsing data’
    • Choose a time range, like Last Hour or All time
    • Check “Cookies, media licenses and site data.”
    • Clear ‘Clear data’.
